From a built-in grill island to a full alfresco kitchen — designed for the way Canadians actually cook outside.
The trick to outdoor kitchens in Ontario isn't appliances — it's materials. Wrong surface, wrong stone, wrong cabinet, and the whole thing falls apart by year three. We use stainless, porcelain, and engineered stone rated for freeze-thaw cycles.

The DiCarlos host weekly family dinners — 15+ people regularly. We designed an L-shaped kitchen with a full Napoleon grill, Alfa Forni wood-fired pizza oven, U-Line beverage centre, and a 12-ft bar with seating for 8. Dekton countertops, Danver cabinets, all under a Struxure louvered roof.
"We cook outside 5 nights a week from April to November. Best investment we've made in the house." — V. DiCarlo
No. Indoor cabinets — even "outdoor-style" wood ones — will warp, swell, and fail within 2 years. We use marine-grade stainless or solid masonry construction only.
Dekton or porcelain slab in 2026. Granite chips and stains; quartz softens in UV. Dekton is engineered for outdoor use — UV stable, freeze-thaw rated, 25-year warranty.
Natural gas line every time if possible — never run out, no tank swapping. Propane works if your home has no gas service, but plan storage for the tank. TSSA permits required either way.
Yes — hot and cold supply lines with a winterization shutoff. We tie into the home's plumbing and install a drain line to either a French drain or grey-water connection. Must be drained before first freeze.
Grill-only setups: year-round. Kitchens with water lines: winterized in November, re-opened in April. Under a covered/louvered pergola, useable on most days down to about -5°C.
